July Reunion - Better Late than Never:)

July 19, 2014 - 50 year Class Reunion of the Great Lafayette High School Class of 1964

What can I say except that it turned out to be a great time, went perfectly and we all want to do it again and I am willing to host because the guests were wonderful and helpful.  This made the day very easy for me and Ross!

We had a crazy busy and fun summer at our house so I am getting finished with my "lists" - I'm sure we all have them.  Finishing this was one thing on the list.

In 19 Days we Celebrate 50 Years!!!

I just sent out an email to everyone and have had many replies and it should be a fun and easygoing time for all of us!  If you would still like to attend just reply and if you show up unannounced that will be fine too.  We are asking everyone to bring a small dish to share - whatever you wish.

Our demands are that everyone cross their fingers for the rain to hold off for at least a day!!!!!

Lafayette HS 50^th Class Reunion 1964-2014 

Can you believe we are actually going to celebrate FIFTY YEARS? Well, we are - and that means it’s time to get together!  Since summers are busy for everyone (including retireesJ) we want to plan far ahead:

50 Year reunion - 2014 - Summer!

I've been talking with Beth (Solheim), Peggy (Cartier), Judy (Demarais) and a couple others and we would like to have a 50 year reunion next summer - it is a big Milestone!!!
We hope to contact people by email or facebook if possible and need an updated email list that we could share with everyone - or any other ideas that may help us get this going.
So if anyone is reading this and would like to be included and has contact emails for any others, please let me know.
As of now the plan is to gather everyone at my house for a full day/evening.  I live in Bloomington MN and we feel it would be a central point and convenient for many others.  My preference would be sometime in mid July 2014.
The four of us are headed up to Red Lake Falls for a 3 night road trip next week - party is on!!!

This is DeVerle (Dee) Schultz Jones and Beth Pouliot Solheim back at it again!
I have heard small rumblings that we have a 50th year class reunion coming up in 2014.  I will be heading to Phoenix tomorrow and will see Beth Pouliot Solheim to talk this over.  Our plan so far is to have it in the Twin Cities where I live so we need to contact people and see how many are interested.  I am thinking a good way is email and possibly a Facebook invite page.  Thoughts?
In the meantime I am watching at least 10 inches of snow fall here!

Time Passes Quickly When One is Aging!

Wow - can't believe it is nearly two years since this blog was begun. This is DeVerle (Dee) Schultz Jones writing - I just returned yesterday from a girlfriend trip with Peggy Cartier Schaupp to visit Beth (Pouliot) and Jerry Solheim in Phoenix. Jerry was kind enough to drive 3 chatty, giggling older women to Sedona AZ and many other places. Saw this sign and loved it at once!
Peggy, Dee and Beth - no we did not actually ride it but I know we could if we had wanted to - belongs to Beth's husband.

Had a great visit with a few old (pardon me) classmates: Denny Harmoning, Doug Lizotte and Jerry Solheim in the back row. Denny's wife Sam, Dee, Doug's wife Mary, Beth and Peggy in the front row. Had a great time.

A few people we chatted with on this trip were amazed that nearly 48 years after graduation we still do this and have fun and laugh. Looking forward to the next one. We're thinking if there is a city celebration like All Class or Summerfest in 2014 and as it will be our 50th we should try to connect at this. Fun weekend - so much fun that I nearly had laryngitis! These are just a few of the photos from the weekend. Congratulations to Beth Solheim and Phyllis Columbus on selling a few of their books - they are great. Where did we meet? Where else but the Legion, the Spot and The Tent! Amazingly enough we were able to gather together for this photo in front of the library on Saturday night. Out of Staters: Jim Gagner and Mary Poirier Luke (Washington) Theresa Demarais Ricketts (Texas) - Judy Demarais Bauer (Wisconsin) and of course many from Minnesota and North Dakota. There are some not pictured who were also there - Diana Proulx Delorme and Deedee Cassavant Poole (who just retired after being a children's photographer after 25 years - imagine that!)
The town was indeed decked out right down to petunias in the toilet bowls in front of Wilcox Plumbing and Heating - I will post more pictures in another post as only so many are allowed at one time:) - oh the rules of Google. I will also gather more tidbits of gossip from a few others and post later. Missed all of you who were not there!
